Quick Response Fire Protection in Freehold, NJ is seeking qualified applicants for our Fire Alarm Apprentice role.

For over 25 years, Quick Response Fire Protection has proudly provided the design, installation, maintenance, inspections and repairs of fire protection systems within the tri-state area. Along the way, Quick Response has grown to become the largest provider of fire protection systems in the state of New Jersey, providing fire protection services to all industries and property types.

As a Fire Alarm Apprentice, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining fire detection systems, as well as monitoring these systems to ensure they’re functioning properly at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with Installation: Work under the guidance of a lead technician to install and verify fire alarm wiring and devices. 
  • Testing Systems: Help with pre-testing the system's functionality before final inspection and professional oversight. 
  • Maintenance & Repair: Support experienced technicians in the maintenance and repair of existing fire alarm systems. 
  • Safety Compliance: Strictly follow all safety guidelines and procedures, participate in safety training, and understand relevant codes like NFPA. 
  • Documentation: Assist in maintaining records and completing daily activity reports. 
  • Customer Service: Develop customer service skills through interactions on job sites. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Moderate math and computer skills
  • Time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills

 Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma / GED required
  • 2+ years of fire sprinkler design experience preferred
  • HydraCAD experience preferred 
  • Degree in Computer-Aided Design, Construction Management, Project Management Engineering, Fire Science, or a related field preferred

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Valid driver's license required
  • NICET Certification (Water-based systems layout) and/or NFPA Certification (Water-based system professional) preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Office environment – moderate noise
  • Construction job sites – moderate to heavy noise, uneven ground, may be subject to heights
  • Ability to maneuver in restricted, poorly lit spaces
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times
  • May be required to climb ladders up to 12 feet
  • Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)

Wage Range: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
