Palmetto Rock Services, Inc. is a specialty contractor providing drilling, blasting, and mechanical services throughout the Southeast. Internship Summary
This internship offers hands-on exposure to the operations of a drilling & blasting contractor. You’ll work alongside seasoned professionals, gaining real-world experience in project planning, field operations, safety protocols, mechanical support, or administrative support, depending on your area of interest.
You will:

Assist in site layout, surveying, and preparation

Help with data collection, logging borehole metrics, and reporting

Support safety inspections, risk assessments, and compliance

Aid in maintenance, mechanical, or equipment support tasks
-
Contribute to project documentation, cost tracking, and reporting
-
Participate in team meetings, project planning, and site coordination
Qualifications & Skills
We don’t expect you to know everything — but we do expect:

Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geology, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

Strong interest in construction, drilling, or blasting operations

Basic understanding of engineering or geological principles (preferred)

Familiarity with surveying tools, CAD software, or GIS (a plus)

Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Self-motivated, able to work under supervision and in field conditions

Ability to travel to project sites and work outdoors (weather, rough terrain)
