A growing HVAC and Building Automation Systems solutions provider is seeking a commercial HVAC Controls Technician who will be responsible for assisting with the installation, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of building automation systems in the greater MD/DC area. This is an excellent opportunity for junior to mid-level technicians to gain experience while being mentored by senior level technicians and benefiting from company paid training.

Compensation commensurate with experience, with a range of $32-$45/hr.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: 

  • Possesses at least entry level knowledge of Mechanical Systems and Controls.
  • Able to interpret controls drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Able to comprehend basic HVAC concepts.  
  • Maintains technical knowledge through required training and consistent review of product catalogs, specifications and dealer websites.
  • Assists with Design and programing of systems utilizing direct digital controls and automation systems for comfort control and energy savings.  
  • Assists engineering in related close-out documents.  
  • Assists with final validation of system operation.
  • Utilizes a variety of hand tools and test equipment and maintains tools and equipment for proper functionality. 
  • Demonstrates ability to assist with managing time and job needs across multiple projects.
  • Works toward eventually serving as direct customer contact, providing training and sustaining customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, communicating with staff and providing customer feedback.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of experience in control or mechanical systems are required. Education in those fields will be considered.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Project and engineering drawing tools.
  • Familiarity with the concepts of new construction, renovation/retrofit and service project management.
  • Experience and knowledgeable in contracting processes associated with the installation of building automation systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with the operation of energy management systems, HVAC systems and temperature controls.
  • Tridium Niagara AX/N4 experience a plus, but company will provide training.
  • Customer service oriented, able to interact with and build a good rapport with customers.
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers and team members individually or in a group setting.
