The Ruhlin Company is looking for a Field Operations Coordinator to join our Operations Division. This role will focus on field coordination support for projects in the Columbus region. Because of this, time spent at our Columbus-area job sites and office will be important. Summary: Coordinate select day-to-day field activities company-wide to help ensure employees and equipment are utilized effectively and efficiently for the successful execution of projects.
Responsibilities:
Cost
- Participate in project coordination meetings.
- Document best practices and share them with employees.
Equipment Usage and Scheduling
- Coordinate with Equipment Manager, shop, and yard to allocate equipment and material resources and to resolve issues over usage.
- Ensure field employees have the necessary equipment and materials to effectively perform work.
- Maximize utilization of equipment and other assets.
General
- Help resolve staffing and equipment issues.
- Provide guidance to project staff on various construction methods to ensure successful execution of work.
- Maintain a work environment free of harassment, intimidation, and coercion.
- Cooperate fully in achieving the Company’s equal employment opportunity objectives.
- Bring to the attention of the Field Operations Manager, in a timely manner, any employee relations issues that arise such as inadequate work performance or policy violations.
- Maintain strong field presence by visiting jobsites regularly.
- Participate in various preconstruction meetings.
- Assist with field hourly hiring, terminations, and layoffs.
- Perform additional assignments as directed by the Field Operations Manager.
Networking
- Attend and participate in industry meetings and networking events.
- Involvement with trade organizations to help build and maintain effective relationships.
Safety
- Perform jobsite safety inspections.
- Participate in the monitoring of craft and subcontractor compliance with safety program requirements.
Talent Acquisition and Employee Development

- Assist with obtaining hourly employees in a timely manner.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering technology, construction management, business administration, related field, or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or field experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the construction industry.
- Outstanding time management and organizational skills.
- Good problem analysis and problem resolution skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, Viewpoint Vista, HCSS software.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to interpret construction documents.
- Willingness and ability to work some non-traditional hours (evenings and weekends).
- Previous experience directing craft labor preferred.
- Team focused mindset to build strong working relationships.
- Broad knowledge of construction methods and materials, costing, scheduling, and estimating.
