We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Building Automation Controls Estimator to join a dynamic, growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for Building Automation Systems (BAS) projects, including HVAC controls, energy management systems, and integrated smart building technologies. You will play a critical role in the pre-construction phase, working closely with engineering, sales, and project management teams to ensure bids are complete, profitable, and aligned with customer requirements. Operations personnel with a desire to transition into an estimator role encouraged to apply. There is a planned progression into a sales position if desired.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze project drawings, specifications, and RFPs to develop accurate cost estimates for BAS scopes of work.
  • Perform quantity take-offs, evaluate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and recommend cost-effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and operations teams to develop bid strategies and pricing models.
  • Review vendor and subcontractor proposals for compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare and submit detailed bid packages and proposals on time.
  • Assist in design-build estimates and conceptual budgeting during early project development stages.
  • Maintain and update cost databases, historical pricing, and estimating tools.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and project hand-off meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in BAS estimating or related technical field.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, DDC controls, and building automation technologies.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
