Summary of Position: Responsible for cutting, fitting, welding, and fabricating components to repair or modify equipment, while adhering to all Boh Bros. safety and quality protocols. The work is primarily performed in one of Boh Bros’ three shops at the Almonaster yard and occasionally in the field or the asphalt plant.

 

Duties:

  • Select appropriate equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding tasks using knowledge of geometry, metal properties, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
  • Lay out, position, align, and fit components. Secure parts using bolts, clamps, and tack welds.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, including arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, and gas welding systems.
  • Perform equipment repairs by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts using cutting torches, presses, and various hand and power tools.
  • Maintain cleanliness in work areas during operations and complete end-of-shift clean-up.
  • Communicate and coordinate with necessary supervisors to conduct work efficiently.
  • Maintain & submit to supervisor daily information and work details such as equipment numbers, job numbers, hours worked, etc.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Experience/Skills:

  • Prior experience in construction, including working outdoors in extreme weather, at heights, and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to read blueprints and welding procedures, perform basic math, and accurately use a tape measure.
  • Skilled with operating drills, power saws, grinders, and welding machines. Must receive training before operating any saw (e.g. chop saw, cutoff saw).
  • Basic understanding of rigging and crane signaling.
  • Relevant welding certifications preferred.
  • Should possess a Class D driver’s license or be able to obtain one.
  • Should possess a TWIC or be able to obtain one.
  • Available to work overtime including weekends, night shifts and/or be on call.
  • Dependability and reliability are essential.

 

 

Physical Requirements:

Performance of this job will require physical ability to climb steps and ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. While performing these duties, the employee may be exposed to moving equipment, elevated workplaces, confined spaces, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions including cold, heat, humidity, and dust. Noise levels may be moderate to very loud. This employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
