Ethanol Transloading Operator

 

 

 

Summary/Overview

 

Transloading Operator will be utilizing transloading carts within the rail yard, loading and unloading biodiesel and ethanol. Responsible for transferring the biodiesel and ethanol to/from railcars and common carrier trucks. Team member will be working under minimal supervision managing the transloading operations.  

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Unload and load products to or from railcars and trucks  
  • Perform safe and efficient transfer of products to or from railcars or trucks  
  • Comply with all safety regulations, including proper use of PPE, to ensure safe operations  
  • Gauge, record and calculate tank inventories  
  • Coordinate railcar switching  
  • Provide weekly/monthly performance reports to team leader for the site  
  • Support maintenance programs and perform general maintenance as required  
  • Perform general inspection and monitoring of related equipment. Report equipment abnormalities or failures to team leader  
  • Comply with federal, state and local regulations  
  • Print and review the Bill of Lading and verify delivery information with the drivers following Hazmat procedures and policies
  • Survey the yard to ensure there is enough product on hand for all deliveries/loading  
  • Manage the site as the common carriers come in to ensure there are no trespassers or illegal activity  
  • Give instructions to the drivers while transferring the biodiesel and ethanol that is being distributed  
  • Will be working outside for extended periods of time throughout the year in all seasons  
  • Lift 50lbs and handle physical work  
  • Participate in general training, job specific training and hazardous materials training as required; successfully complete written examinations  
  • Perform duties safely and responsibly while always observing all safety and health rules  
  • Communicate with drivers, the transloading team, and the corporate office 

 

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma; Degree, Certification, or other relevant training is a plus 
  • Basic computer and math skills (company specific bill of lading program)  
  • Ability to learn and adhere to rail yard policies  
  • Mechanical aptitude would be preferred

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Construction, HAZMAT or alternative fuel experience is a plus  
  • Mechanical aptitude would be preferred  

Physical Demands

  • Must have the physical ability to climb the railcars which are anywhere from 10-15 feet
  • Must be capable of lifting hose which may weigh up to 50 lbs
