OBAYASHI CORPORATION is seeking a Laborer to provide essential support for our tunnel project in Manchester, NH. This position reports to the Foreman and plays a key role in maintaining site safety and efficiency. This is an hourly, nonexempt position. Start pay at $23.00/hr DOE.

The Department of Labor Standards (DLS) establishes prevailing wage rates for construction and other public works projects. These wage schedules are issued to cities, towns, counties, districts, authorities, and state agencies. All workers on public projects must be paid the applicable prevailing wage. Rates vary by region, type of work, and other factors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform general site cleanup and debris removal.
  • Assist with unloading materials and deliveries.
  • Hand excavation, trenching, grading, and backfilling.
  • Support concrete work: placing, vibrating, screeding, and patching.
  • Set up ladders, scaffolding, and temporary weather protection.
  • Handle tunnel-related materials (precast segment liners, pipes, cables, rails) safely.
  • Assemble precast segment liners in the tunnel.
  • General maintenance of the tunnel, including, but not limited to, installation and maintenance of tunnel utility lines, ventilation, grout system, and cutting tools changes for the Tunnel Boring Machine.
  • Hyperbaric work to perform general maintenance of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) under pressure (proper training will be provided)
  • Assist with the installation of drains, sewers, and piping.
  • Perform demolition, fire watch, and erosion control tasks.
  • Tend to other trades and provide material handling support.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or Vocational and/or relevant work experience.
  • Ability to perform physical labor in varying conditions.
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
  • Previous construction experience preferred.
  • Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening as a condition of hire.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience with tunnel-specific equipment (TBM, locomotives, slurry systems).
  • Familiarity with underground construction practices.
  • Qualified Rigger or Certified Rigger preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certified preferred.

OTHER:

  • Able to work after hours, weekends, and on call when needed.
  • Ability to walk and work on outdoor construction sites.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
  • Able to work on the night shift.
  • Able to work as a team member with the crew and the superintendent.
  • Ability to lift and/or lift up to 40 lbs.
