What were looking for?

EPS is seeking a skilled Lead Mechanic to join our Operations Department. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining and repairing our fleet of vehicles, machinery, and equipment to keep our operations running smoothly. If you enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving, and taking ownership of a busy shop environment, this is an excellent opportunity to make an impact.

Major Expectations & Accountabilities

  • Assist the Operations Department with the management and maintenance of the EPS fleet.
  • Perform and track all Annual DOT Inspections on vehicles and trailers, completing any necessary repairs.
  • Maintain and repair equipment including vehicles, trailers, scissor lifts, forklifts, mobile air compressors, skid steers, excavators, and attachments.
  • Respond to mobile or roadside repair requests and equipment emergencies.
  • Deliver and pick up EPS equipment, lifts, tools, and materials as directed.
  • Manage fleet management software and track inventory of parts such as oil, lubricants, filters, tires, and trailer lights.
  • Build and fabricate tools, mechanisms, or devices needed in the warehouse or field.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, including managers, office personnel, and field employees.
  • Assist at jobsites as needed and ensure proper use of PPE.
  • Support facility maintenance, cleanliness, and organization inside and outside the EPS facility.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

  • A 2-year degree in Automotive Technology or similar.
  • Valid MN Driver’s License required; CDL preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and use of power tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with all team members.
  • Commitment to producing high-quality work in a consistent and timely manner.

Qualifications That Set You Apart

  • Experience in commercial or construction-related vehicle maintenance.
  • Familiarity with fleet management software and standard computer programs (Word, Excel, email).
  • Welding, fabrication, and general machinery repair experience a plus.

Physical Requirements/Essential Functions

  • Must maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to give and receive detailed information verbally and in writing.
  • Operate motor vehicles and transport tools/equipment to work sites.
  • Manual dexterity and strength to lift up to 50–100 lbs. regularly and navigate uneven terrain.
  • Exposure to dirt, dust, weather conditions, and construction environments.
  • Use of hand and power tools, welding equipment, and machinery.
