Heavy Equipment Transport Driver
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
Drives a class “A” CDL truck/trailer combination while transporting various sizes and types of heavy equipment throughout Arkansas.
Essential Functions
- Transports heavy construction equipment to include oversized permitted loads
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills required to maneuver, load and unload construction equipment on heavy equipment trailers.
- Maintains a current medical certification
- Conducts daily preventative maintenance checks on truck and trailer units
- Demonstrate proper chain securement procedures
- Knowledge of overweight and over-dimensional load restrictions
- Read and understand oversized load permits
- Knowledge and ability to navigate the area of central Arkansas to complete delivery requirements
- Conduct electronic log device (ELD) entries tracking hours of service requirements
- Communicate with heavy equipment manager via truck computer email system

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing throughout day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time hourly position, normally working Monday through Saturday.
- The start and end of the workday will vary based on the daily requirements and will include a required 30-minute lunch/break period.
- The position may require extended work hours at times.
Travel
- Redstone Construction only operates within the state of Arkansas.
- There may be occasions where the member is be required to stay overnight in an out-of-town hotel.
- Hotel rooms are furnished by Redstone Construction.
- Employees receive $50 perdiem pay for each night’s stay in an out-of-town hotel.
Required Education and Experience
High school education is required. A minimum of two years heavy equipment transport experience is required.

- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
