Position Overview

The Concrete Superintendent is responsible for leading and overseeing multiple concrete crews while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to quality standards. This role plays a critical leadership position within our civil construction operations and requires strong field experience, people management skills, and the ability to plan and execute complex projects.

The Concrete Superintendent reports directly to the Vice President of Civil Construction and serves as a key link between field crews, project management, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Leadership

  • Ensure safety is prioritized in all aspects of work and that company safety policies are followed at all times
  • Lead by example and promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and teamwork
  • Train, coach, and support foremen, finishers, operators, drivers, and laborers
  • Conduct performance evaluations for foremen and assist with evaluations for other crew members

Project Planning & Execution

  • Preview, plan, and schedule concrete projects, addressing safety concerns, site layout, logistics, and sequencing
  • Ensure materials, equipment, and personnel are available and properly coordinated
  • Supervise and manage multiple concrete crews (typically three crews)
  • Monitor jobsite productivity, quality, safety, and cost control

Communication & Coordination

  • Maintain daily communication with supervisors, project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and owner representatives
  • Participate in pre-job meetings and manage customer relations throughout the project lifecycle
  • Review and resolve punch list items and close-out tasks

Reporting & Operations

  • Maintain daily logs, progress reports, and timecards to support job costing and reporting
  • Identify and implement solutions for routine field challenges and develop work-around plans as needed
  • Operate equipment such as skid steers and assist crews in the field when necessary

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong work ethic with a demonstrated desire to succeed
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple construction projects
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the concrete industry
    • At least three (3) years in a foreman role or higher required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and contract documents
  • Valid driver’s license with a relatively clean motor vehicle record
    • Applicants with drug or alcohol driving offenses in the last five years will not be considered
    • Other violations evaluated per insurance standards
  • Ability to work 40–60 hours per week, including weekends as required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • CDL Class A preferred but not required
