Position Overview

With 3C our Carpenters are responsible for performing a wide range of rough carpentry activities on commercial construction jobsites. This role requires a strong understanding of construction plans and specifications, a commitment to jobsite safety, and significant experience with commercial door installation and hardware. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and able to work independently while supporting overall project goals.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and fully understand project plans, specifications, scopes of work, and schedules to accurately execute assigned tasks.
  • Perform rough carpentry work including, but not limited to, construction of walkways, temporary structures, enclosures, railings, stairs, temporary doors and openings, safety-related site installations, and other temporary construction means.
  • Install, adjust, and support commercial doors and related components, ensuring proper fit, function, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Measure, layout, cut, and install materials accurately using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Gather, transport, and stage materials as needed to support daily work activities.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate material needs to the Foreman for timely replenishment.
  • Identify jobsite hazards and proactively address issues using sound carpentry practices or escalate concerns to supervision as needed.
  • Ensure all trade employees, subcontractors, and vendors adhere to company standards, safety regulations, and jobsite security requirements.
  • Participate in daily Pre-Task Plans (PTPs) and follow all safety policies, equipment operating procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Inspect tools and equipment prior to use to ensure safe working conditions.
  • Operate construction equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, backhoes, excavators, compactors, and construction hoists, as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work area throughout the project.
  • Track completed work and productivity, communicating progress or issues to supervision.
  • Foster positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and coworkers.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, integrity, professionalism, and leadership in daily operations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Navigate active construction sites safely
  • Climb ladders and stairs; walk on uneven surfaces
  • Work in various weather conditions
  • Lift, carry, and move materials and equipment as needed

Work Environment

  • Primarily field-based on active construction sites
  • Regular exposure to weather elements, loud noise, moving machinery, and airborne particles
  • Must be comfortable working in high-risk and high-intensity environments
  • Appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required and provided

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of carpentry experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial door installation experience required.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction materials, methods, and tools used in commercial construction and framing.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents including blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, scopes of work, vendor tags, and schedules.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and equipment related to carpentry tasks.
  • Solid understanding of basic arithmetic and geometry as applied to construction measurements and layouts.
  • Ability to accurately measure, read, and communicate dimensions using a tape measure or ruler.
  • Strong planning, problem-solving, and analytical skills with the ability to think critically and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to listen actively, ask clarifying questions, and follow direction.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to travel as needed and accommodate night and weekend work.
  • Valid state driver’s license required to operate equipment and/or travel between jobsites.
