The Long Beach, CA team accepts applications year-round for our Field Technician roles. Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnostics and Repairs: Perform complex on-site diagnostics and repairs on Wirtgen and John Deere construction equipment.
  • Workplace Safety: Perform tasks in accordance with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Training and Development: Participate in required Service Training programs.
  • Knowledge Maintenance: Stay updated on Wirtgen, John Deere, and competitive products.
  • Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain the condition of the mobile service vehicle, trailer, inventory, tools, and equipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience performing service repairs.
  • Technical Expertise: Experience with repairs and maintenance using special tools and Technical Manual procedures, particularly on specialized machines. Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostics.
  • Industry Knowledge: Expert knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of Wirtgen or construction equipment.
  • Mechanical Background: Ability to perform complex repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following technical manual procedures. Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in off-road, construction, or heavy equipment.
  • Computer Proficiency: Basic computer skills; experience with Service ADVISOR™ or similar diagnostic tools preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Toolset: Possession of toolset in alignment with the company’s requirements of the role. Tool checklist will be completed in the interviewing process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical Degree or Certificates: Advanced or Master Service Technician certifications and degree in Diesel Repairs, Heavy Equipment Technology, or related field.
  • Industry Knowledge: Previous experience working on the John Deere line and competitive products.

Physical Requirements

  • Driving: Must be able to drive and travel in a vehicle. For the purposes of driving, must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Physical Conditions: Must be able to lift 50 pounds. This position is classified as a Type 2 A Type 2 driver is defined as an employee who does not possess a CDL Class A or B license but operates a vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) exceeding 10,000 pounds. Type 2 Drivers are required to hold and maintain a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (ME Certificate) in compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. This includes periodic medical recertification and adherence to FMCSA compliance reviews.
