Location:

This Role is site-based at KSM Mine, Hwy 37, BC. Camp accommodations and transportation to the site are provided by Seabridge Gold from Terrace, BC. This position operates on a 14x14 day rotational schedule.

Position Overview:

The Environmental Coordinator is responsible for assisting employees and contractors to advance the KSM Project. This includes coordinating, planning, and tracking the activities of environmental field crews across a large and diverse site, following up on reports and spreadsheets, and communicating with onsite and office-based staff. The ability to comprehend and learn a diverse field of scientific knowledge is needed for this role.

This position will report to the Environmental Superintendent and Compliance Manager. The Environmental Coordinator will be ensuring alignment with project objectives, regulatory standards, and sustainability commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

This role will manage, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Manage the MLARD material movement tracking sheet to ensure compliance
  • Interface with the Sr. Geochem and the Field Engineers with respect to the material movement tracking/geochemistry
  • Assist Superintendent with site orientations, on-boarding, and field support
  • Coordinate environmental field crews (pre-clearing, wildlife relocations, baseline) while on-site with construction team
  • Communicate regulatory and compliance items to other departments that require action
  • Interface with construction teams and management to realize future needs
  • Monthly audits /inspections of management plan components. ie. Fueling stations
  • Follow up on spill reporting and other minor non-compliances
  • Participate in various daily meetings. ie. Toolbox, Health and Safety, Planning
  • Assist with environmental awareness training, bulletins, and internal communications
  • Data entry from audits and contractor tracking items (water trucks for dust suppression, wildlife cards). Assist with tracking spreadsheets.
  • Other activities as required to support Construction Compliance.

Education, Skills and Experience:

The successful candidate will bring a proven track record of technical expertise, leadership, and collaboration, supported by the following qualifications and experience:

  • 5-7 years of environmental permitting and compliance experience related to mining or other major industrial projects in BC.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Earth Science or related discipline; and a professional designation is an asset.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams and cross‑cultural settings.
  • Highly effective communicator, proficient in Microsoft Office Package. Strong written and oral communication skills, including technical writing expertise.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills, including empathy, emotional intelligence, and cross‑cultural effectiveness; able to achieve consensus and foster alignment collaboratively.
  • Commitment to high standards of professional and ethical conduct, with a strong independent work ethic.
  • Flexible team player, willing and able to contribute across a wide variety of tasks in a fast‑paced project environment.
  • Experience in mine environments, working within British Columbia, across Canada, and in North America.
