Position Summary 

WIELAND’s Project Managers lead with accountability and determination, ensuring every aspect of the project is executed from initiation through final turnover. They have a primary focus on financial management, risk mitigation and contract documentation, while supervising and supporting the project team.

Job Functions 

Project Execution

  • Manage project buyouts by defining trade partner strategies and preparing bid documents for various delivery methods.
  • Work closely with Site Superintendent to update and ensure the accuracy of the project schedule and distribute weekly. 
  • Participate in pre-construction including constructability, logistics, schedule, etc.
  • Schedule and perform post bid interviews to verify scope, schedule, and cost resulting in selection of Trade Partners that will represent WIELAND.
  • Coordinate all project requirements/reviews with authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Responsible for oversight regarding submittals, RFI's, Punchlist, Closeout and the related documentation control.
  • Coordinate the successful delivery of project closeout documents, punch list completion and final inspections.

            Risk Management

  • Review and understand the Prime Contract terms for risk mitigation and decision purposes.
  • Ensure all trade partners have a signed subcontract agreement, any necessary bonds and correct insurance prior to any work onsite and monitor future compliance.
  • Recognize future problems and propose implementing preventative action.
  • Schedule and hold monthly financial meetings with Project Team to update Project Fee Reconciliation, Cost Projections, and S-Curves.
  • Ensure all accidents and incidents are reported per SOP.

            Safety & Quality

  • Promote WIELAND’s safety culture during preconstruction and construction process.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety requirements

      Client & Shareholder Management

  • Document and communicate with Owners, Architects and Trade Partners related to project risk, timetables, costs/budgets, change events and project delays.
  • Ensure project goals are being met and communicate any changes/risks to the Senior Project Manager/Director.
  • Prepare executive report including Budget, and Forecast Analysis, Schedule, and Safety.
  • Manage client expectations and deliver a positive project experience.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients fostering a strong working relationship. 

      Budget & Cost Control

  • Process and reconcile change events within 30 days. Adhere to current processes and procedures regarding change management.
  • Prepare and distribute commitments within 30 days of project award and execution of the Prime Contract.
  • Successfully review and approve invoices in accounting software weekly, and in the project management software monthly. 

      Team Communication

  • Meet with Project Team at job site location biweekly or as project demands to review onsite conditions and provide input as needed.
  • Hold internal team meetings to evaluate any risk or concern.
  • Provide jobsite leadership by promoting safety, schedule and quality.                                   
  • Mentor Assistant Project Managers by communicating clear, challenging, and measurable goals to ensure expectations are known.
  • Communicate positively and effectively with other companies and departments.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations and lessons learned.
