Summer Recreation Manager for City of Brandon

The City of Brandon, South Dakota is seeking a Summer Recreation Manager. The Summer Recreation Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, promoting and administering a comprehensive youth recreation program for the City of Brandon. 

This position does require some availability in the spring to coordinate interviews/hiring of the Summer Recreation staff as well as working with the Finance officer to coordinate registration for the program in conjunction with the pool registration. 

Responsibilities:

• Cooperation with interested groups in coordinating city recreational programs
• Plan and implement the general recreation program to provide a wide range of activities for all age groups
• Acquire facility use permits to operate the program; coordinate bus drivers with the school district
• Maintain records and reports necessary to evaluate the use of playground, activities and programs to compile an annual report and budget
• Perform other related work as required

Ideal candidates will have a background in elementary education, recreational administration or physical education. Experience supervising and/or administering a community based recreational program is desired. This position may be a great fit for a student pursing a degree in any of these areas, or an educator seeking seasonal employment. Must be at least 21 years of age. 

The position does require the hiring and training of staff along with the organization of the summer activities flyer in late winter and early spring.

This position is on-site providing direct supervision of the eight week summer recreation program during June and July. 

Starting pay: $17.00/hour DOQ
