PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Traveling Superintendent is responsible for leading on-site construction activities across multiple project locations to ensure every NNI project is completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest standards of quality. This role serves as the on-site representative of NNI’s values and mission—fostering collaboration, maintaining accountability among subcontractors, and ensuring that each project reflects the company’s commitment to excellence and integrity. Traveling Superintendents play a hands-on role in guiding field teams, resolving challenges proactively, and creating an environment where people and projects can succeed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adherence to:
    • Project schedule as set-forth by NNI and the Project Manager
    • Specifications provided by the Project Manager and Director of Construction
    • Compliance with construction plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to:
    • Implement and enforce quality control measures
    • Foster a positive and safe work environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures
    • Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and audits
    • Identify and mitigate potential hazards
    • Monitor and address safety concerns
    • Maintain regular and effective communication with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and project managers
    • Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation
    • Identify and address construction related challenges and obstacles proactively
    • Collaborate with project team to develop innovative solutions and strategies to overcome difficulties and maintain project progress
    • Manage all 16 trades onsite 
  • Completion of daily tasks:
    • Coordination of all sub-contractors (all 16 trades) to ensure a smooth and evenly paced project
    • Reports, progress photos, videos
  • Initial resolution of disputes, poor workmanship, scheduling delays, etc.
  • Effective and collaborative communication and coordination with the Project Manager

SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL

  • Responsible for supervision of all 16 trades

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Minimum of 3 years as Superintendent for a General Contractor in retail/commercial 
  • Minimum of 3 years commercial/retail construction
  • Must have experience leading and managing a team of subcontractors and on-site personnel
    • Provide guidance, direction, and support to ensure effective collaboration and achievement of project objectives
  • OSHA30: 1 year
