What we are looking for:
The position duties are as follows: For various and unanticipated client sites throughout the U.S., involving short and long-term assignments. Participate as a member of the project team and work in partnership with Field Management to build safe, high-quality, and profitable construction projects. The role is key to the successful construction of infrastructure projects by monitoring engineering activities while also assisting in the development of our junior employees. Additionally, the position is responsible for collaborating on safe work plans and execution strategies, ensuring project compliance with relevant regulations, and conducting cost estimation and risk management while engaging in client negotiations and contract management. Day-to-day job duties will include:
- Facilitate the construction and operations activities at project site.
- Monitor engineering activities and project progress, implement quality control measures, and adjust strategies as necessary to ensure compliance with specifications and safety.
- Provide technical guidance and advice to project personnel regarding construction activities and/or program modifications.
- Foster a safe work environment by enforcing health and safety protocols, participate in safety audits, and promote a culture of safety among project teams.
- Assist in team building by interviewing, assessing, and mentoring talent.
- Participate in daily huddles to promote communication, resolve issues, and share ideas, so that projects are expeditiously and safely constructed.
- Manage the labor and other cost budgets.
- Conduct cost estimation of construction projects’ cost of materials, equipment, and labor.
- Estimate, price, and negotiate owner-initiated extra work, change of scope items, and contract deletions in accordance with project specifications.
- Participate in business development, including proposal preparation, estimating bid strategy and support, and assist in client presentations contract negotiations.
- Ensure the project invoicing schedule is adhered to and that the project team accurately documents and submits all receivables, quantity as-builts, change orders, and claims.
- Produce complete subcontracts and ensure all subcontractors execute to the agreement and the company’s engineering standards in a timely manner.
- The role will monitor and provide feedback (with ability to recommend hire/fire, only) to approximately two subordinate Civil Engineers (SOC Code 17-2051.00) with the titles of Field Admin, Field Engineer, and/or Project Engineer.
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or its foreign equivalent in a closely related field, followed by five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a heavy civil engineering construction role. Experience must include:
- 3 years of experience utilizing civil engineering principles, construction methods, and project management practices.
- 3 years of experience with earthwork and utility construction.
- 3 years of experience developing and executing project changes.
- 3 years of experience managing subcontractors.
- 3 years of experience developing cost to complete, and costing and price Change Orders.
- 3 years of experience in project start-up meetings, subcontractor and vendor buyouts, owner estimates, sub/vendor requisitions, and cost to complete.
Offered Wage: $142,750/year
