CNG Compressor Operator 

Summary/Objective

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of CNG fueling systems by monitoring compressor performance, inspecting equipment, and troubleshooting leaks or faults. Maintains accurate gas usage records, oversees SCADA monitoring, and coordinates with field technicians, drivers, and onsite operators to ensure reliable CNG delivery and uninterrupted customer operations. 

Responsibilities and Technical Skills
  • Operate CNG compressors, and related equipment to ensure efficient and safe fueling operations Monitor and control compressor performance, including pressure, temperature, and flow rates 
  • Perform routine inspections on compressors and report in and maintenance issues to compressor vendor and Atlas CNG Manager  
  • Maintain and drain oil from Sand Trap filter separators during shift 
  • Troubleshoot Gas leak detections on any connections, high pressure hoses and CNG trailers before deliveries 
  • Monitor Live Ops on Scada for Gas Usages, Faults/Alarms on PRS’s 
  • Maintain accurate Gas records and data entry of Gas operations and provide accurate CNG Usage reports to all customers
  • Collaborate with CNG Field Techs on any PRS maintenance faults found to ensure equipment is in good working order 
  • Collaborate with CNG Drivers and On-Site CNG Operators on trailer deliveries ensuring customer location has plenty of inventory on-site
  • Dispatching CNG Drivers to all customer locations ensuring customer operations stay active

Work Environment 

Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and snow.  

Physical demands 

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crouch, reach, and climb for extended periods of time.  

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 50lbs on a regular basis.  

Frequent use of hands and arms to operate tools, equipment, or controls.  

Ability to safely navigate uneven terrain, various outdoor surfaces, and occasional obstacles.  

Visual and auditory ability to identify potential hazards and operate equipment safely.  

May require prolonged periods of driving or operating machinery.

Required Education and Experience 

High School Diploma, Instrumentation and Electronics Associates degree or equivalent, Associates Mechanical and Electrical Engineering experience a plus along with general diesel mechanics 
  • In-depth working knowledge of Computer and Electronic systems and diagnostic procedures 
  • Able to download and upload software 
  • Knowledge and ability to use diagnostics software and electronic platforms  
  • Able to conform to shifting priorities, responsibilities, strategies, demands and timelines 
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task, manage time, organize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Class A CDL desired 
  • Should be able to work independently  
  • Preferred education and experience 
  • Experience leading a previous team in the fuel field 
  • Preferred 3 years of Oilfield fueling or frac work experience  
  • Experience in a team-oriented, collaborative work groups  
  • Experience with CNG-Dual Fuel Oil Field services desired
