Due to continued growth, we are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Life Safety Technician to support our growing team in Longwood, FL.  In this role, you will install, inspect, test, service, and maintain life safety systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards. The Life Safety Technician ensures all systems operate reliably to protect people, property, and facilities while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining compliance with local, state, and national regulations. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Install, program, test, inspect, and service life safety systems including fire alarm, life safety, and related low-voltage systems 
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance in compliance with NFPA, local AHJ, and company standards 
  • Troubleshoot system issues and complete necessary repairs in a timely manner 
  • Accurately document inspections, service reports, deficiencies, and corrective actions 
  • Communicate system status, deficiencies, and recommendations clearly to customers and supervisors 
  • Maintain compliance with safety policies, procedures, and job site requirements 
  • Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and other trades as required 
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and company vehicles in safe working condition 
  • Stay current with codes, standards, and manufacturer training 

Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 
  • Experience working with life safety systems 
  • Working knowledge of NFPA codes (NFPA 70, 72, and related standards) 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation 
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record 
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screening as required 

Preferred Certifications & Experience 

  • NICET certification, preferred 
  • Manufacturer certifications (e.g., fire alarm, access control, security systems) 
  • Experience working with AHJs and fire inspections 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds 
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and operate in confined spaces 
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
