Safety Specialist
The primary function of the Safety Specialist position is to identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage using safety standards, best management practices, and
analytical techniques.
A strong candidate for this role will balance their time between being on job sites/shop and the office administration aspects of the role. This position will have a lot of interaction with our field and shop leaders. Time will be spent learning the business, building relationships, making improvements, and holding the team accountable. This role must share our vision that zero incidents are achievable and strengthen culture across the team.
Responsibilities:
• Perform job site and shop safety analysis, determine employee exposure, and institute safe work procedures.
• Conduct safety inspections, document findings, and implement corrective actions on a regular basis.
o Increase engagement in company STEP’s platform (our electronic safety audit program) for collecting leading indicator safety data from our field and management teams.
• Maintain all site required documentation related to safety issues, i.e. accident reports, inspection reports, training logs, etc.
• Conduct accident investigations and facilitate the return-to-work program.
• Develop and conduct training on OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
• Manage company fleet safety including driving without distractions program.
• Administrate the company’s Substance Abuse Program, including drug and alcohol testing.
• Manage daily activities regarding injury management and worker’s compensation issues in conjunction with safety director.
• Actively participate in Company’s Safety Committee.
Qualifications/Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in safety related field preferred.
• Working knowledge of OSHA CFR 1926 standards.
• First Aid and CPR, OSHA 30 Hour certification.
• 1-5 years of construction experience.
• Ability to pass pre-placement screening including: drug screen, background / motor vehicle
records check.

PAY RANGE: Pay dependent upon level of experience and education. Base Salary + Incentive based on company performance.
