We are currently seeking: General Superintendent

The General Superintendent is the senior field leader responsible for leading, developing, and aligning field teams to safely deliver high-quality construction projects on schedule and at planned productivity. This role provides direct leadership to Project Superintendents and sets the tone for culture and core values, ensuring consistent execution standards across all projects in perimeter security installations. The General Superintendent is a builder of people and systems, driving performance through strong communication, coaching, problem-solving, and collaboration with Directors of Field Operations, Project Management, Preconstruction, Design, Safety, Workforce Planning, and Training teams.

 

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises Project Superintendents and provides leadership to field teams across multiple projects. 
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop Project Superintendents and field teams
  • Set clear expectations for field execution, leadership behavior, and accountability in perimeter security installations
  • Identify talent gaps and support workforce planning, succession, and training initiatives (including coordination with Tusco University programs)
  • Foster a culture of ownership, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement across field operations
  • Champion a safety-first culture across all projects
  • Ensure consistent implementation of company safety programs and site-specific plans, with emphasis on high-risk activities (e.g., excavation, utilities, barrier/gate installations)
  • Partner with the Safety Department (EHS Director) to address trends, incidents, and corrective actions
  • Hold field leaders accountable for safe work practices and hazard mitigation
  • Ensure projects are planned, sequenced, and staffed to meet or exceed schedule commitments for fence, gates, and perimeter security work
  • Lead schedule adherence and recovery efforts when projects fall behind
  • Oversee short-interval planning, look-ahead schedules, and field coordination
  • Drive labor productivity through proper planning, crew management, and workflow optimization in specialty installations
  • Establish and enforce consistent quality standards across all projects
  • Proactively identify and resolve constructability and execution issues in perimeter security systems
  • Ensure work is installed correctly the first time, minimizing rework and callbacks
  • Partner with Project Management and Quality teams to address deficiencies
  • Maintain a strong understanding of job cost, labor productivity, and field budgets
  • Support Project Managers in managing labor hours, equipment utilization, and production rates
  • Identify trends and opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste
  • Provide field insight to support accurate forecasting and cost control
  • Lead effective problem-solving efforts for complex field challenges in high-security environments
  • Identify systemic issues and drive process improvements across projects
  • Share best practices and lessons learned across teams
  • Support implementation of new tools, systems, and methods (including digital tracking and training tools)
  • Coordinate closely with:
    • Preconstruction – constructability input, logistics planning, staffing strategies
    • Design – field feedback, issue resolution, and constructability alignment
    • Project Management – schedule, cost, and execution coordination
    • Directors of Field Operations – self-perform crew planning, production, quality, safety, and schedule
    • Safety – program execution and continuous improvement
    • Workforce Planning & Training – staffing, onboarding, and leadership development
    • Serve as the primary field liaison between departments
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with craft professionals, supervisors, managers, and executives
  • Lead productive meetings, site walks, and field reviews
  • Provide timely, honest feedback and performance coaching
  • Represent the company professionally with clients, inspectors, and partners

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required, associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred 
  • 10+ years of progressive construction field experience, including at least 5 years in a senior superintendent, general superintendent, or equivalent leadership role (experience in fencing, gates, perimeter security, access control, vehicular barriers, or specialty/high-security installations highly preferred) 
  • Proven track record leading and developing multiple field teams and project superintendents 
  • Demonstrated success in managing safety, quality, schedule adherence, labor productivity, and cost control on complex projects
  • Willingness to travel as needed for project oversight.
  • 10+ years of progressive construction field experience, including senior superintendent or similar leadership role (experience in fencing, gates, perimeter security, access control, or specialty/high-security installations highly preferred) 
  • Proven ability to lead and develop multiple field teams and project superintendents 
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, and field logistics in perimeter security environments 
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and team development 
  • Solid understanding of cost control, labor productivity, and field performance metrics 
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization 
  • Ability to coach, train, and mentor others effectively
  • Experience overseeing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Formal leadership or superintendent training programs
  • Experience supporting workforce development and training initiatives
