Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Service Technician to support our branch in Longwood, FL. The Service Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, testing, and inspections of Gamewell/FCI fire alarm systems. This role focuses on small service work, device replacements due to age or damage, basic troubleshooting, and annual fire alarm testing to ensure systems operate in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs on Gamewell/FCI fire alarm systems
- Replace smoke detectors and other field devices due to age, damage, or failure
- Identify and replace missing or non-functional devices
- Conduct basic troubleshooting of fire alarm system issues
- Perform annual fire alarm testing and inspections for commercial and residential buildings
- Document test results, service work performed, and deficiencies found
- Communicate findings and recommended repairs to supervisors or customers
- Ensure all work complies with NFPA, local fire codes, and company standards
- Maintain tools, test equipment, and a clean, safe work environment
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of fire alarm systems, specifically Gamewell/FCI (preferred)
- Experience with fire alarm device replacement and minor troubleshooting
- Understanding of fire alarm testing and inspection procedures
- Ability to read basic drawings and system documentation
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage service calls efficiently
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
- Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment
- Comfortable working in occupied buildings and construction environments
Preferred Certifications (not required)
- Fire alarm technician certification
- NICET Level I or II (preferred but not required)
- OSHA 10 or equivalent safety training
