Salary Range:  $95,000 - $160,000 annually (DOE), FLSA exempt.

Here’s a deeper dive into your responsibilities:

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Plan and manage the project estimate, schedule, and account for variances to the plan.
  • Manage and control project cost and account for variances to the estimate.
  • Create accurate projections of cost at completion.
  • Plan and manage the project control systems.
  • Direct activities of project staff personnel.
  • Take off quantities and prepare pricing for changes when so directed.
  • Thoroughly review all drawings, submittals, samples, and shop drawings to ensure installation will be in accordance with the contract.
  • Write and manage RFI’s and change orders.
  • Plan and coordinate work appropriately to facilitate the work permit process.
  • Review construction procedures and provide technical support for work.
  • Ensure construction work in-house and by sub-contractors complies with the contract.
  • Be directly involved with construction procedures and represent JH Kelly at various meetings.
  • Perform field engineering for construction convenience items, including calculation and design drafting when required.
  • Keep management informed of project status and scheduling.
  • Thoroughly review all drawings, submittals, samples, and shop drawings to ensure the final product will be in accordance with the contract.

Team Development & Mentorship

  • Lead, mentor, and manage Interns, Field Engineers, Project Engineers, and other project team members.

 Relationship & Business Development

  • Maintain proactive and positive relationships within the crafts, including shop and field craft personnel, as well as supervise coworkers

Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Ensure timely and accurate billings, collections, and monthly forecasting
  • Utilize systems for budgeting, phase codes, purchasing, quantities, and documentation
  • Oversee procurement, subcontracts, purchase orders, and project documentation

Safety & Quality Leadership

  • Champion and promote JH Kelly’s safety and quality protocols across all projects and teams
  • Ensure no unresolved safety or quality issues on any project under your leadership

Additional Responsibilities

  • Market and sell JH Kelly services to existing and potential clients
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support department and company success

What You Bring

  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the full project management life cycle within the commercial mechanical industry. Expertise in all responsibilities of a project, demonstrating proficiency and mastery with consistent positive results and growth: Scheduling, budgeting, planning, and managing projects; Establishing scheduling baselines, assessing impact claims, and negotiating soft subjects; Conducting risk assessment and communication (both internal and external); Managing billings, forecasting, and resource management; Consistently producing profits greater than the bid margin; Developing repeat business with customers and clients.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related construction industry field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Skills:
    • Expert-level proficiency in project scheduling, budgeting, cost control, risk management, and contract negotiation
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Bluebeam (intermediate Excel skills required)
    • Strong ability to read, mark up drawings, and perform take-offs

  • Requirements: Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various construction sites as needed
Physical Requirements
This role requires transitioning frequently between office and construction field settings. In the office, you’ll sit for extended periods, performing repetitive tasks like typing and communicating by phone. In the field, you’ll stand and walk on uneven terrain, climb stairs, kneel, crouch, crawl to inspect tight spaces, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds. Good vision and hearing are essential for reading plans and on-site communication. You’ll work outdoors in various weather conditions, adhere to site-specific dress codes, and wear PPE (hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed boots).
