Job Type:  Shuttle Buggy Operator is a specialized position in the asphalt paving industry, responsible for operating a shuttle buggy to transfer hot mix asphalt from dump trucks to a paver hopper, ensuring a continuous flow of material for uninterrupted paving.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Operating the shuttle buggy to receive asphalt from dump trucks and transfer it into the paver hopper in a continuous flow.
  • Maintaining communication with haulers and the paver operator to coordinate material inflow, storage, and discharge.
  • Daily machine inspection to check fluid levels, hoses, tires, chains and other components fro safe and efficient operation.
  • Follow all safety protocols and adhering to company and DOT regulations, especially when operating in live traffic.
  • Performing maintenance and cleanup at the end of the day to keep equipment in good condition.

Qualifications:

  • Experience operating a Shuttle Buggy during paving operations or other heavy equipment is preferred, but willing to train motivated people.
  • A basic understanding of heavy equipment operations and maintenance protocols are beneficial.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and communication hand signals.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Ability to work night shift as required
  • Ability to work long hours when required

Work Environment:   Willingness to work 50+ hours a week, including out-of-doors under varying climatic conditions.  Job may require lifting and bending.  Noise level is high. Employee may experience occasional pressure due to multiple tasks and deadlines.
