Internship Overview 

Casella Construction is offering a Summer Internship in Land Clearing—an opportunity to join us in the Spring/Summer of 2026 for our Paid Internship. This internship will focus on honing your practical skills and field experience in Vegetation Management within the Forestry Land Clearing Team. 

Our internship program aligns with your school’s curriculum. Learn firsthand what it takes to start and finish a project and enhance your knowledge of what you learned in the classroom. You'll get hands-on experience learning management functions, forestry and land clearing skills, and tasks such as: 

  • Proper tree identification, herbicide, and felling techniques 
  • Advancement in chainsaw operating technique  
  • Substantial field experience in Utility Vegetation Management  

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with clearing operations 
  • Properly maintain and operate equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, axes, winches, and ropes). 
  • Support field crews with material handling 
  • Help prepare daily activity reports and complete daily paperwork in a timely manner 
  • Participate in safety and training meetings as required. 
  • Help maintain site cleanliness 
  • Support inventory of clearing tools and supplies 
  • Help maintain equipment logs 
  • Follow Curriculum of your school to fulfill the goals of your internship 

Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program in Forestry or related fields  
  • Strong interest in utility vegetation management 
  • A passion for nature, the environment, and the great outdoors.   
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work on a team.   
  • Ability to listen, understand, and follow instructions.   
  • Interest in working outdoors in all weather conditions. 

What You'll Gain: 

  • Knowledge of day-to-day Forestry Operations with an emphasis in hands in Vegetation Management  
  • Hands-on experience with hand tools, chainsaws, axes, winches, herbicide backpack sprayers, and ropes 
  • Insight into the development and implementation of proper tree felling procedures 

Compensation and Benefits: 

Our Spring / Summer 2026 Internships are 8-12 weeks, 40 hours or more per week and generally start in the May / June timeframe (start and end dates are flexible based on your availability).  

Hourly Hiring Range: $24.00/hr. 

This range reflects the base pay we reasonably expect to offer for this position at the time of posting, considering current market conditions and industry benchmarks.  

Final and individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
