Choate Construction is seeking a technically driven and highly collaborative MEP Specialist to support our growing Mission Critical Program. In this role, you will help deliver high‑density, mission-critical facilities for diverse clients across our footprint—playing a central role in operationalizing complex designs and supporting the continued growth of this expanding division.
The MEP Specialist sits at the core of project success. You’ll provide expertise across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, low-voltage, and controls systems from early pursuit through project turnover. Working closely with project teams, you will help ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient MEP execution while supporting cost analysis, scheduling, system performance, and contract development for multiple projects. You will also elevate Choate’s technical capabilities by mentoring teammates and building strong relationships with clients, design partners, and trade contractors to help secure new opportunities and achieve exceptional outcomes.
What You’ll Do
Technical Leadership & Project Support
- Provide expertise in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, low-voltage, and controls systems across all project phases.
- Support the design and construction of hyperscale and critical environment projects with a deep understanding of redundancy, cooling strategies, power distribution, sustainability, and alternative energy solutions.
- Assist with cost evaluations, constructability reviews, system functionality analysis, and value engineering.
- Contribute to scheduling, contract development, and procurement support to ensure well-coordinated MEP execution.
Collaboration Across Teams
- Partner closely with preconstruction teams, project managers, superintendents, and field staff to drive alignment and informed decision‑making.
- Work directly with MEP trade contractors to coordinate scope, sequencing, and system integration.
- Step in to directly manage MEP scopes when needed to support project demands.
Quality, Safety & Performance
- Champion safety best practices and demonstrate consistent leadership in the field.
- Ensure all MEP systems are delivered to Choate’s high-quality standards, supporting system commissioning and turnover where needed.
- Help teams proactively monitor productivity, cost, and system performance to drive efficiency and excellence.
Training, Mentorship & Development
- Coach and mentor project teams on MEP fundamentals, installation expectations, and operational requirements.
- Support the development of internal tools, standards, and training programs that advance the Mission Critical division’s capabilities.
Client & Industry Engagement
- Build strong, authentic relationships with clients, designers, vendors, and trade partners.
- Contribute to repeat business and new project opportunities through professionalism, technical expertise, and exceptional service.
Skills and Qualifications
- Six (6) to ten (10) years of construction experience.
- Must be proficient in Bluebeam software for the creation and modification of PDF documents.
- Must be proficient in Timberline Estimating software.
- Must be proficient in Agtek, iSqF.
