3D Model Drafter
Lavender, Inc. is looking to hire a full-time 3D Model Drafter for our Headquarters located in Aliceville, AL. We are General and Mechanical Contractor with 40 years of experience. While we primarily serve the Southeast United States, we have done work on a national scale. This position is for someone to work in Tuscaloosa, AL or Aliceville, AL on a daily basis M-F 7am-3:30pm with some occasional overtime.
A 3D Model Drafter creates detailed, precise 3D digital models and 2D technical drawings for construction, manufacturing, or engineering projects using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit). They translate engineering sketches into actionable plans, collaborate with team members, ensure compliance with standards, and produce bills of materials.
Key Responsibilities
- 3D Modeling & Drafting: Generating high-quality 3D models and technical schematics from rough sketches, specifications, or data.
- Collaboration: Working with engineers, architects, and project managers to refine designs, interpret specifications, and incorporate revisions.
- Production Documentation: Creating detailed, accurate layouts, bills of materials (BOM), and component parts for manufacturing or construction.
- Compliance & Revisions: Ensuring all drawings adhere to industry standards, safety protocols, and company procedures, while maintaining version control.
- Analysis: Reviewing site plans or mechanical parts to identify design flaws and propose solutions.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Autodesk Maya, Revit, SolidWorks).
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of drafting principles, engineering concepts, and manufacturing processes.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to create precise, accurate, and detailed technical drawings.
- Communication: Effective communication skills for collaborating with designers and project leads.
- Education/Experience: Usually a certificate, associate degree in drafting, or equivalent experience in CAD modeling.
Typical Daily Activities
- Using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to build 3D models.
- Editing existing drawings based on client feedback or field changes.
- Creating electrical, mechanical, or structural layouts.
- Organizing and maintaining project design files.
Experience Preferred:
- Structural Detailing
- Piping Isometrics
- Civil Layouts
