For over 25 years, Quick Response Fire Protection has proudly provided the design, installation, maintenance, inspections and repairs of fire protection systems within the tri-state area. Along the way, Quick Response has grown to become the largest provider of fire protection systems in the state of New Jersey, providing fire protection services to all industries and property types.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Shop Leader to join our team in Freehold, NJ. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing daily shop operations that support fire sprinkler installation, service, fabrication, and inspection teams. This role ensures efficient material handling, accurate inventory control, fabrication coordination, safety compliance, and timely jobsite support. Previous experience in warehouse and shop operations required, experience in fire protection, mechanical or construction industry is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily shop operations supporting fire sprinkler and fire protection projects
- Coordinate fabrication of sprinkler pipe, cutting, threading, grooving, and assembly
- Schedule and prioritize material staging for upcoming jobs
- Ensure proper loading and unloading of materials for field crews
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment
- Manage inventory of pipe, fittings, valves, sprinkler heads, hangers, and related materials
- Conduct cycle counts and maintain accurate inventory records
- Coordinate purchasing and restocking of materials and consumables
- Work closely with project managers to forecast material needs
- Minimize waste, damage, and material shortages
- Supervise shop personnel, drivers, and warehouse staff
- Train employees on proper material handling and equipment operation
- Monitor productivity and enforce company policies
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety
- Oversee maintenance schedules for shop equipment (threading machines, forklifts, lifts, etc.)
- Coordinate tool tracking and maintenance for field crews
- Assist with fleet coordination as needed
- Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies
- Ensure proper storage of materials in compliance with fire codes
- Maintain SDS documentation and ensure proper PPE usage
- Support quality control standards aligned with NFPA guidelines
- Work closely with project managers, estimators, and field supervisors
- Assist with job preparation, material takeoffs, and staging
- Support emergency service material needs when required
Qualifications
- 3+ years of warehouse/shop experience; fire protection or construction industry preferred
- Knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, pipe fabrication, and related materials strongly preferred
- Supervisory or leadership experience
- Experience operating forklifts and shop fabrication equipment
- Familiarity with NFPA standards and OSHA safety regulations
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency with inventory management software and Microsoft Office
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a warehouse environment
Preferred Certifications
- Forklift Certification
- OSHA 10 or 30
- Industry experience with NFPA 13 systems (preferred but not required)
