JOB SUMMARY
Directs total construction effort to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. Supervise and coordinate various contractors to ensure their contracts are met, or supervise and coordinate individual trades.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend internal pre-construction meetings.
- The superintendent should review plans, specifications, and addenda prior to the internal pre-construction meeting date.
- Coordinate temporary facilities.
- Trailers, telephone, toilets, fence requirements, and dumpsters.
- Develop a site-specific emergency action and safety plan with support from the Safety Director.
- Complete required actions from the QA/QC program
- Review subcontractor contracts with the project manager prior to the start of work.
- Check subcontractor insurance certificate prior to the start of work.
- Receive city-approved plans, note changes, and communicate any changes to the design team.
- Make changes to “as-built” drawings daily.
- Supervise total jobsite effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with the plans, specifications, addenda, budget, and schedule.
- Includes interfacing with client representatives, architect/engineer representatives, and other contractors, etc.
- Review weekly the site-specific QA/QC logs with the Project Manager and periodically review the QA/QC program.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings, record minutes, and file in Procore.
- Periodically review the company safety policy, and make sure this policy is always adhered to by Shaw-Lundquist Associates’ employees and subcontractors.
- Record time and units daily in Procore. Responsible for end of week review for accuracy.
- Communicate with the Project Manager weekly to discuss:
- Shaw-Lundquist Associates, Inc., manpower on the jobsite.
- Schedule for the week.
- Means and methods being used.
- Subcontractors on the jobsite.
- Materials needed at the jobsite.
- Pending change orders and approval status.
- Cost codes and productivity results.
- Jobsite problems and required solutions.
- Changes in scope or hidden conditions or architect/owner change requests.
- Complete the daily log in Procore.
- Daily/Weekly scheduling of subcontractors using the last planner process.
- Manpower management - Ensure that an adequate workforce is being used to optimize efficiency and productivity to meet the schedule.
- Coordinate city inspections.
- Make sure final inspections are completed as necessary to obtain a Certificate of Occupancy.
- Communicate with the PM prior to approval of any back charges.
- Meet with the Project Manager bi-weekly to review and update the project schedule.
- All documents are filed timely in Procore.
- Pre-punch list / Punchlist administration.
- Superintendent to walk through the project prior to the substantial completion punch list to correct/repair punch list items to minimize the architect’s punch list.
- Superintendent to follow the punch list process and update completed items in Procore.
- The superintendent is expected to review all punch list items before marking them complete in Procore.
- Travel to project sites, including out of state
- Lead projects with a lean culture utilizing strategies such as last planner and 5S.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience.
- Minimum of eight years’ supervisory experience in similar facility construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures required.
- Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and the ability to control and supervise large groups are essential.
- Minimum OSHA 30 safety certification.
- Ability to ensure client satisfaction and maximize company profitability with a safe environment
- Broad range of people skills, including strong leadership, management, and accountability
- Understanding the contents of design and construction documents and contracts
- Understanding of LEAN, BIM, and Sustainability practices and systems
- Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people to achieve maximum effectiveness and efficiency
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, project management systems, and scheduling software
- Strategic, but also able to resolve issues on a routine basis

Compensation
Base Compensation Range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000
Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and internal equity. This position is also eligible for Shaw-Lundquist’s incentive plan.
