Smyth Industries Human Resources Department is currently searching for a Talent Acquisition Recruiter to help enhance our current team. We provide full-service electrical, civil, manufacturing, engineering and general contracting services for the water and reclamation industry.

In your job, you will have the ability to make a difference in the water and reclamation industry by:

Scope: As a Talent Acquisition Recruiter, you will shape Smyth Industries’ long‑term workforce strategy by building future‑ready talent pipelines, strengthening our employer brand, and ensuring every hire supports our culture, mission, and long-term organizational goals. You will proactively develop relationships across critical trade and professional talent markets including welders, electricians, industrial coatings specialists, engineers, and project managers to ensure the company has the right people in place to support sustained growth. This position supports Smyth Industries’ commitment to safety, quality, innovation, and operational excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Talent Sourcing & Attraction: Develop and execute recruiting strategies for both trade and professional roles | Source candidates via multiple channels including job boards, social media, trade schools, vocational programs, referrals, and networking | Build and maintain multi‑year, future‑focused talent pipelines that support long‑term workforce needs | Engage passive candidates and strengthen Smyth’s visibility through proactive outreach | Use labor market insights to anticipate talent shortages and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly.

Candidate Screening & Selection: Screen resumes and conduct phone, video, and in‑person interviews to assess candidates’ skills, cultural fit, and long‑term success potential | Evaluate technical abilities, growth potential, and alignment with Smyth’s mission and values | Coordinate the full recruitment lifecycle from job requisition to offer negotiation and acceptance | Apply structured, equitable interviewing and selection methods to ensure consistency and fairness.

Hiring Manager Collaboration: Partner with hiring managers across all divisions to understand immediate needs and forecast future staffing priorities | Advise leaders on talent market trends, pipeline health, and strategic workforce planning | Assist in crafting job descriptions that reflect Smyth’s culture, services, and long‑term organizational goals | Serve as a strategic talent advisor by recommending sourcing strategies, selection approaches, and competitive positioning.

Recruitment Operations: Manage candidate flow and documentation using the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) | Conduct motor vehicle reports, prescreening, background checks, and coordinate all onboarding steps | Monitor key recruiting metrics such as time‑to‑fill, quality of hire, source effectiveness, and retention performance | Recommend data‑driven improvements to strengthen recruitment processes and enhance the candidate experience.

Employer Branding & Events: Represent Smyth at career fairs, trade school events, community activities, and industry functions | Promote Smyth’s culture, values, safety‑first philosophy, and long‑term career pathways to attract high‑quality trade and professional talent | Collaborate with HR and leadership on internal and external messaging, branding, and digital content that position Smyth as an employer of choice | Build and maintain partnerships with trade programs, universities, and community organizations to expand talent pipelines.

Administrative and Compliance Support: Ensure all recruiting documentation, forms, certifications, MVRs, and compliance records are completed accurately and on time | Maintain recruiting files, shared drives, dashboards, and reports for HR leadership and compliance audits | Coordinate interviews, orientations, new hire onboarding, and all pre‑employment requirements | Support internal audits by maintaining organized, compliant, and accessible hiring records across all divisions.

Minimum Qualifications: 2-3 years full cycle recruiting (sourcing, screening, closing) including non‐exempt/trades roles | Proven ability to partner effectively with hiring managers (field operations, manufacturing shop, etc.)  |Solid knowledge of recruiting compliance and labor market practices | Ability to manage high-volume scheduling and candidate communication | Proficient in MS Office / basic ATS use | Valid driver's license, pass MVR and drug screening | Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs., such as office supplies, files, or small equipment.

Preferred Qualifications: 5 yrs recruiting in the construction/manufacturing/industrial sectors, ideally water infrastructure or related | Experience managing pipelines for roles such as tank fabricators, coating crews, field service techs, electrical/control technicians | Experience optimizing ATS/recruitment metrics (time-to-fill, source effectiveness) | PHR or SHRM-CP | bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Human Resources, Business, Marketing or related field.

Core Competencies: Recruits hard-to-fill roles (i.e. ASME welders, controls techs, foremen) to ensure projects are fully staffed | Forecasts staffing needs with hiring managers and operations leaders to proactively plan for workforce demands | Builds pipelines for specialty trades and professional roles through targeted sourcing and relationship management | Handles complex offers and negotiations to secure top talent efficiently and fairly | Improves recruiting processes to reduce time-to-fill, enhance candidate experience, and increase operational efficiency.
