Position Description:

McAninch is seeking a Safety Onboarding Coordinator to serve in a hybrid Safety-HR role, focused on new hire orientation and pre-employment compliance. This position delivers engaging safety orientations, ensures compliance with OSHA and DOT requirements, and manages pre-employment scheduling for drug screens, physicals, and background checks. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional who enjoys training and building a safe workforce.

This position reports to the Safety Director. The Coordinator typically starts at 6:30am and works 50-55 hours per week. This position is on-site and is not eligible for telework.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver new hire safety orientation to ensure new employees understand company culture, policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Maintain and update safety orientation and training materials to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Manage scheduling of and results for pre-employment physicals, drug tests, and background checks to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate orientation schedules with Human Resources and ensure required technology, materials, and equipment are prepared.
  • Track training completion, assess effectiveness of programs, and maintain accurate training records and files.
  • Support recruitment efforts, including attending hiring events and participating in interviews as needed.
  • Advise Safety Director of safety compliance concerns and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in the development, evaluation and enhancement of other safety programs as assigned.
  • Conduct jobsite visits regularly to observe work practices, performs safety inspections, and verify proper training and use of personnel protective equipment (PPE).
  • Manage documentation for Pre-Task Planning (PTPs) and jobsite permits.
  • Perform other administrative duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years safety experience with OSHA, First Aid/CPR, Confined Spaces, and/or Excavation Safety in the construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety, or related field may substitute for required experience.
  • Strong presentation skills, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to engage adult learners.
  • Proven experience delivering safety training and presentations to small groups. Able to effectively answer questions from employees, managers, and clients.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be available to travel when necessary (generally less than 20%).

Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily sedentary work, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data entry, and operating office equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors and stand/walk on uneven terrain.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching within an office environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry light objects, typically up to 10 lbs.

Compensation:

  • Up to $65,000 per year, based on experience.
