Schedule: Monday through Sunday.  From 7:00am to 5:00pm, 11 days on 3 days off, hours & days can vary based upon Owner/GC requirements and workload. 2-3 Months until project is completed.

 

Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO)

Overview: We are hiring a experienced SSHO to manage site safety on a federal construction project in North Dakota.  The SSHO ensures full compliance with the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and EM 385-1-1 standards, driving proactive jobsite safety. The SSHO will also provide full-time on-site safety and occupational health management, observance, inspections, training and safety enforcement ensuring the safety of all workers onsite.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and enforce the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) for handling hazardous, toxic, and radioactive waste
  • Conduct daily site inspections and lead toolbox talks
  • Develop and maintain AHAs and safety documentation
  • Coordinate closely with Superintendent and QC on safety matters
  • Conduct incident investigations and maintain OSHA 300 logs
  • Maintain SDS library and safety records onsite
  • Attend pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings, and three phase inspection meetings

                                                                                                        

 

Requirements

  • Must have a current EM 385-1-1
  • Experience in implementing Accident Prevention Plan (APP)
  • Worked on USACE / Federal Projects
  • Valid First Aid / CPR Certification
  • 5 years of continuous construction industry safety experience in supervising/managing general construction
  • Experience working with Federal construction projects.
  • Posses and OSHA 30 certification
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Pass background check and drug screening
  • Ability to wear PPE and work in varying indoor/outdoor environments
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and ability to work under pressure

Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, and material handling
  • Lift 10–50 lbs. frequently; up to 100 lbs. occasionally
  • Occasional climbing and overhead reaching
  • Continuous physical activity throughout workday
  • PPE required at all times on job sites
