We are in the need of hiring for Staff Accountant.

 About the Position

The Staff Accountant supports the financial operations for construction projects at Carr & Duff by assisting the Project Controller with forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance tasks. This role ensures accurate project tracking, timely reporting, and adherence to company and industry standards.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Basic understanding of job costing and percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting
  • Proficient in Excel (spreadsheet creation/editing, pivot tables, graphs, data manipulation/analysis, and formula creation)
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to producing accurate reports
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
  • Knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition standards
  • Willingness to learn and implement process improvements
  • Prepare forecast templates related to percentage-of-completion (POC) project accounting
  • Maintain accurate job cost records and track project expenses
  • Help manage revenue recognition and identify upside opportunities and jobs running over budget
  • Assist with budget vs. actual analysis to provide meaningful commentary for internal stakeholders  
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure financial accuracy of project data
  • Maintain proper documentation for audits and compliance
  • Support company automation initiatives with COINS ERP system
  • Analyze billing statuses related to projects
  • Office-based with occasional interaction with project teams
  • May require extended hours during month-end or project deadlines

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 1 to 3 years' experience
