About the Role

The Manager, Distribution Engineering role will be based in New Orleans, LA or Houston, TX and is responsible for leading day‑to‑day distribution engineering operations, ensuring quality delivery, supporting client needs, and developing engineering staff within the assigned market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day‑to‑day oversight of electric distribution engineering and design deliverables
  • Mentor and develop supervisors, engineers, and field staff to strengthen leadership capability and technical depth
  • Enforce design standards, QA/QC processes, and safety expectations
  • Foster a strong team culture focused on accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement

Client Engagement & Service Delivery

  • Support client relationships, ensuring reliable service delivery
  • Partner with leadership to scale programs, staffing, and execution across the region
  • Monitor contract performance, schedules, and delivery risk

Business Development & Growth 

  • Support expansion of design work, including reliability and revenue-driven initiatives
  • Contribute operational and technical input to pursuits, estimates, and client discussions
  • Identify opportunities to expand services and improve delivery efficiency

Organizational & Continuous Improvement 

  • Drive improvements in processes, policies, and delivery workflows
  • Support operational discipline tied to utilization, resourcing, and cost awareness
  • Strengthen business acumen and administrative rigor within the team

Business Development Focus

  • Growth Areas:
    • Central US Electric Utilities
    • Hardening/Resiliency programs
    • Reliability programs
    • Revenue-generating distribution initiatives

Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering background strongly preferred
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; equivalent distribution engineering experience will be considered
  • Prior experience leading engineering teams within utility distribution, EPC, or consulting environments
  • Strong understanding of electric distribution systems, utility standards, and safety requirements
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop engineers and supervisors
  • Client‑focused mindset with growing business acumen
  • Effective communicator with the ability to balance technical detail and leadership decision‑making
  • Minimum: 8–12 years total relevant experience
  • With at least 3–5 years in a leadership or people‑management role
