JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Technical Intern II will be responsible for minor department-specific tasks as directed by department management and will provide support to complete assigned projects. Duties may include technical data entry, data quality review and control, and equipment maintenance. The successful candidate may also engage in additional data management and/or reporting efforts as their availability and skill sets develop. The primary portion of this work is to provide remote GPS location services based on the candidate’s experience and with additional training provided. The selected candidate will report to and be mentored by professional engineers and will receive peer-to-peer coaching and training from a current intern with two years of experience.
This is a full-time, temporary summer position (approximately 10 weeks) based in Ruidoso, NM. The intern will be trained to operate GPS equipment to locate water valves and sewer manholes. The role will involve working outdoors daily alongside a Village of Ruidoso employee to locate infrastructure and assist with traffic control as needed. The position requires travel to Ruidoso each week, with work conducted Monday through Friday to complete a 40-hour workweek.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fulfill tasks as instructed by your manager.
- Operate GPS equipment (with training) to locate water valves and sewer manholes.
- Perform extensive outdoor fieldwork, including walking for extended periods and assisting with traffic control as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Attend meetings, conferences, and trainings; take meeting minutes and provide notes to team members.
- Perform research as instructed by your manager.
- Answer phone inquiries and provide information to clients as requested.
- Perform clerical duties including scanning, filing, documentation, and data entry.
- Run general department-related errands.
- Manage databases and prepare reports.
- Provide support for the specified department.
- Work with team leads to operate within standard procedures and protocols to promote consistency and accuracy.
- Assist in developing and maintaining QC checklists and procedures for deliverables.
- Maintain regular communication with team leads to support consistency between projects and offices.
SALARY: $18.00-$21.00 (Hourly)
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited university in pursuit of a Bachelor’s in science or engineering field.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to pass drug and alcohol test.
