The Clay County Courthouse is looking for a dedicated Clerk to join our close-knit team in the Equalization Office.  

As a Clerk for the County, you’ll work under the direct supervision of the Director of Equalization and be responsible for performing technical and professional work in assisting the public and .

Here’s what you’ll do:
•    Act as the first point of contact for the public, answering phone calls, and responding to email inquiries.

  • Processing sales/transfers for the South Dakota Department of Revenue Sales Ratio Program.
  • Assist in answering on-site inquiries concerning assessment values, and the property tax process.
  • Maintain accurate records, files and property cards on all properties in taxing jurisdiction.
  • Manage supply inventory.
  • Perform other duties and functions as directed by the Director of Equalization.

 

Here’s what you’ll need:
•    High School Diploma or GED Certification.
•    Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Here’s more of what will get you noticed (preferred, but not necessary): 
•    Knowledge of geographic layout of Clay County, working knowledge of public records, and property legal descriptions.
•    Clerical or administrative experience.
•    Experience with abstracting, surveying, real estate, or land title work.
