Job Summary:
The Safety Specialist will work closely with division managers, project managers, jobsite supervisors, and construction workers to ensure that safety regulations and policies are followed to prevent any accidents or injuries on the construction site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance and Monitoring: Ensure all activities are in compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct routine safety audits and inspections of workplace environments, equipment, and procedures to identify potential hazards.
- Training: Lead and coordinate safety meetings and training sessions for employees and evaluate their effectiveness
- Incident Reporting: Document and investigate any incidents or accidents, making recommendations for process improvements for prevention and improvement.
- Safety Equipment: Make sure that all employees are equipped with necessary safety equipment and gear, including hard hats, gloves, eye protection, etc.
- Emergency Response: Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.
- Subcontractor Management: Oversee safety compliance of subcontractors and third parties involved in the project.
- Reporting: Provide weekly updates and reports on safety performance to upper management.
- Policy Development: Assist in the development and maintenance of the company’s safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, or CHST, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Relevant work experience can substitute for educational requirements.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety management in the commercial construction industry.
- Knowledge with OSHA regulations in construction and other relevant safety policies and procedures.
- OSHA 500 trainer
- Certified in First Aid and CPR
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to commute to various job sites
- Excellent interpersonal skills: Strong coaching, training and motivational skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
Preferred:
- Experience in commercial construction
- Strong preference for bilingual candidates (fluent in English and Spanish) to support diverse communication needs and enhance operational support.
Location:
- In or around the DFW area with the ability to commute around with a few hours distance, and to other locations when needed for additional coverage

Physical Requirements:
- Must be capable of navigating a construction site with uneven surfaces and various obstacles including but not limited to stairs, ladders/scaffolding, narrow walkways, low hanging objects, etc.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
