Bensonwood Summer 2026 Pre-Apprenticeship Program
Earn while learning traditional and advanced construction methods!
Bensonwood is excited to launch the Summer 2026 Pre‑Apprenticeship Program, a four‑week immersive experience designed for individuals eager to explore a future in carpentry and sustainable building. This program leads directly into full‑time employment opportunities at Bensonwood and is ideal for recent graduates of trades programs, as well as individuals with foundational construction experience who are ready to deepen and expand their skills. Rooted in Bensonwood’s core value of continuous improvement, the program provides a hands‑on introduction to both traditional carpentry and advanced prefabrication methods. Participants gain exposure to the skills, expectations, and work culture that define a professional career in the trades, while building a strong foundation for long‑term growth. Throughout the program, participants will work alongside Bensonwood’s skilled craftspeople and master builders in our climate‑controlled production facilities. Through a blend of guided instruction and practical experience, students engage directly with the materials, tools, and techniques that define modern, high‑performance, energy‑efficient construction.
As participants explore their interests and strengths, the Pre‑Apprenticeship introduces several potential career pathways at Bensonwood, including:
- Apprentice
- Woodworker
- Shop Carpenter
- Field Installation Carpenter
- Long‑term pathways into job captain, shop leadership
This Pre‑Apprenticeship serves as a gateway into Bensonwood’s Registered Apprenticeship program, developed in partnership with ApprenticeshipNH. Whether your interests lie in general carpentry or the rapidly growing field of sustainable, prefabricated, offsite, and industrialized construction, the program offers a supportive and professional environment to build skills, confidence, and clear career direction—while experiencing the collaborative culture that drives our work forward. Upon completion of the Pre-Apprenticeship, you'll be eligible to apply to these 2-3 year programs.
More about the Registered Apprenticeship program
Working under the guidance of our master builders, you will gain experience in three cutting-edge climate-controlled production facilities located in Keene and Walpole New Hampshire and on job sites in exciting locations across the region. Paired with instruction at higher educational facilities in New Hampshire, these programs allow you to develop valuable career skills in a supportive and professional environment. Our first cohorts of apprentices started in 2024, and we plan to welcome our newest cohort in 2026.
- Registered Carpentry Apprenticeship Our Registered Carpentry Apprenticeship program provides a broad classroom education in traditional carpentry and on-the-job training in each of our specialized production facilities and job sites around the country. This dual approach aims to create a more immersive learning experience: leading to long term success.
- Registered Sustainable Prefabricated Construction Apprenticeship Sustainable prefabrication building is a fast-growing segment of the construction industry. The demand for their high-quality, energy-efficient buildings is rapidly increasing, and sustainable prefabrication has significant advantages over traditional construction.
