Field Engineer – Heavy Civil & Mission Critical Projects

Gregory Construction is seeking a Field Engineer to support heavy civil and mission critical construction projects across multiple regions. This is a field-based role requiring consistent travel to active job sites throughout the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and other regions as project needs dictate.
This position is designed for someone early in their career who wants hands-on experience in the field and exposure to large, complex projects. Field Engineers work closely with Superintendents and Project Managers to support daily operations and keep projects moving safely, on schedule, and within budget.
This is not a fixed-location role. Candidates should expect to be assigned to projects for extended durations and be willing to travel where the work is.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Superintendents and Project Managers with daily field operations and planning
- Track project progress, schedules, and production to help meet deadlines
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to maintain workflow
- Assist in enforcing safety standards and maintaining quality control on-site
- Prepare daily reports, maintain field documentation, and support quantity tracking
- Assist with layout, survey coordination, and resolving field issues
- Communicate project updates and contribute to problem-solving efforts
- Support material tracking, equipment coordination, and overall jobsite organization
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years of construction field experience (heavy civil or mission critical preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with construction software is a plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, field-driven environment
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively and work on-site for extended periods
