Construction Workforce Development Field Trainer

Position Overview

Gregory Construction is seeking a Construction Workforce Development Field Trainer to lead and execute field-based training initiatives across the company. This role is responsible for building, managing, and improving training programs that directly support field operations and workforce development.

This is a travel-heavy, field-facing position. The Field Trainer will spend significant time on active job sites working with Superintendents, Project Managers, and craft professionals to ensure training is practical, consistent, and aligned with project needs.

This individual will oversee apprenticeship programs and career pathways for key craft roles, ensuring compliance with Department of Labor (DOL) and NCCER standards while maintaining a strong focus on real-world application in the field.


Key Responsibilities

Field Training & Workforce Development

  • Lead and manage field training programs across all active project sites
  • Work directly with field leadership to identify skill gaps and training needs
  • Support onboarding and development of craft and equipment personnel
  • Build and maintain clear training pathways that support career progression
  • Ensure training programs are practical, consistent, and aligned with field execution

Apprenticeship Program Management

  • Oversee registered apprenticeship programs, including:
    • Heavy Equipment Operator
    • Construction Craft Laborer
    • Concrete Finisher & Forms Builder
    • Conduit Installer
    • Surveyor
  • Track On-the-Job Learning (OJL) hours and progression
  • Manage NCCER curriculum implementation and credentialing
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for all programs
  • Ensure compliance with DOL, state, and industry requirements

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5+ years of heavy civil construction or field operations experience
  • Strong understanding of craft roles, equipment, and field environments
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field leadership and crews
  • Strong organization and documentation skills
  • Willingness to travel regularly and work across multiple project sites

Preferred:

  • Experience as a Superintendent, Foreman, or Lead Operator
  • Familiarity with NCCER curriculum and credentialing
  • Experience with DOL-registered apprenticeship programs
  • Background in training, workforce development, or program management
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field
