Role Summary and Strategic Impact
The Journeyman Pipefitter is responsible for the installation, fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of piping systems on commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects. This role requires advanced technical knowledge of piping systems, the ability to work independently, and a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
I. Key Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, and maintain piping systems including hydronic, chilled water, hot water, steam, condensate, and process piping.
- Perform layout and take accurate field measurements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and project specifications.
- Cut, thread, groove, bevel, and fit pipe using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Install valves, pumps, heat exchangers, boilers, chillers, and related mechanical equipment.
- Perform pressure testing and system start-up support.
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues in the field.
- Ensure all work meets applicable codes, specifications, and company quality standards.
- Follow OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Assist in mentoring and training apprentice pipefitters.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
- License: Valid Journeyman Pipefitter License (Texas or Oklahoma)
- Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of pipefitting experience, commercial experience a plus
- Key Traits: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and safety procedures. Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings. Proficiency with pipefitting tools and equipment. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly. Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and in confused spaces. Comfortable working in various weather conditions. Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and climbing.
Compensation and Benefits (Wichita Falls, TX)
- Base Salary Range: $72,800.00
- Relocation: Not Applicable
