OBJECTIVE: 

The Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled AMP Data and Mapping Specialist to support implementation of a USDA Amplifying Markets for Producers (AMP) grant program. This position is responsible for collecting, managing, validating, and mapping farm and field-level data, including USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) tract and field information, within agricultural data management systems. The role will support internal operations, reporting, data analysis, and program implementation through accurate data management, mapping, and generation of reports for internal and external stakeholders. This is a grant-funded position with anticipated funding through five years. This position reports to the AMP Program Manager. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collect, enter, validate, and maintain farm and field-level data within agricultural data management platforms
  • Interpret USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) maps, tract data, and field boundaries to ensure accurate spatial and program records
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews to verify accuracy and completeness of agricultural and geospatial datasets
  • Generate tabular reports for internal teams, external partners, and participating producers
  • Support reporting and documentation requirements associated with USDA grant programs and program implementation activities
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve data collection, management, and reporting workflows
  • Maintain accurate and organized spatial and non-spatial datasets across multiple projects and systems
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of data discrepancies or mapping issues
  • Assist with field verification and producer engagement activities as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of producer and program data

WORK LOCATION/TRAVEL

  • This position will be based in Ankeny, Iowa.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • This position has no supervisory responsibility

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree in a relevant field
  • Familiarity with Midwest cropping systems and conservation practices
  • Understanding of GIS
  • Strong skills in data analysis
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on projects

PREFFERED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Additional certifications, coursework, or projects in GIS or related fields
  • R, Python, or other programming skills
