Summary: 

Provides proactive leadership on assigned water and wastewater construction projects, from the preconstruction and bidding phase through planning and buyout, construction, close-out, and warranty. Accountable for client satisfaction, project quality, cost control, and schedule adherence on water distribution, sewer conveyance, pump/lift station, treatment/process, plant rehabilitation, yard piping, and related civil infrastructure scopes, working as a team with Project Superintendents and Project Engineers. Conforms to corporate policies and procedures, upholds ethical standards, and exemplifies corporate values, with an emphasis on integrity and service.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represent Nabholz in business development efforts with water and wastewater clients, engineers, and industry partners, including active participation in community and industry organizations, project interviews, and company events.
  • Lead water/wastewater project development through the Preconstruction phase with the support of the Preconstruction Department.
  • Develop project management plan, including safety plan, quality plan, site logistics plan, water/wastewater phasing and tie-in plan, and turnover requirements, with the support of Project Team.
  • Manage commitments to Subcontractors, Suppliers, specialty trade partners, and equipment vendors, ensuring internal compliance with procurement policies and vendor compliance with contract terms.
  • Collaborate with Project Team and safety staff to ensure the safe execution of projects with an achievable goal of zero jobsite incidents, including work in active utility corridors and water/wastewater facilities.
  • Manage all financial aspects of Project, from job setup to monthly billings, forecasting, and final closeout, to ensure that Project meets profitability goals.
  • Maintain positive relationship with current and potential clients, designers, engineers, municipal/utility stakeholders, and facility operators.
  • Provide team leadership, both internally and externally.
  • Actively promote safe execution of projects, with an achievable goal of zero jobsite incidents.
  • Anticipate construction flow, phasing, shutdowns, tie-ins, equipment lead times, and owner operations to provide proactive project planning.
  • Prepare and manage project budget proactively, forecasting final project costs monthly, if not more frequently.
  • Strong organizational ability with daily management of multi-tasking.
  • This job is safety sensitive for medical marijuana purposes.
  • This position requires driving a personal vehicle on behalf of the company or a company vehicle; therefore, the applicant must successfully complete a motor vehicle records check, possess, and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, and immediately self-report convictions/violations/tickets to the DOT Compliance Specialist as per Company Policy.  Any negative change in the status of the employee’s driving record may result in the revocation of the employee’s privilege to drive for the company.
  • All other tasks as assigned.

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • A 4-year college degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Civil Engineering, or similar program is preferred.
  • Career experience must include at least 5 years in Heavy / Civil commercial construction, preferably including water/wastewater, underground utility, treatment/process, pump/lift station, or municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Must understand Heavy / Civil commercial construction means, methods, and materials, including standard practices and regulations for water/wastewater infrastructure and municipal/public works environments.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Must be willing and able to speak before groups of people in project interviews and other presentations
  • OSHA 30-hour training.

  • Take-off Software:  On-screen and Agtek.
  • Estimating Software:  HeavyBid.
  • Project Management Software:  HeavyJob, Procore.
  • Scheduling Software:  Primavera P6.
  • General:  Microsoft Office (Outlook, OneDrive, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Etc.).

Physical Demands:

  • Travel overnight as projects or corporate responsibilities require.
  • Continuously sit, stand, or walk.
  • Bend, squat, climb stairs, or ladders.
  • Lift frequently 20 pound and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

 Work environment:

  • Office, cubicle, or workstation.
  • Job trailer or jobsite office.
