The PEMB (Pre-Engineered Metal Building) Project Coordinator is a dynamic, client-facing role at the beginning of projects, including project coordination, and customer experience for Butler Manufacturing projects. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on building relationships, managing fast-moving priorities, and keeping teams aligned from concept through construction. You’ll work closely with clients, architects, Butler Manufacturing, and internal teams to guide projects through sales, preconstruction, and implementation, serving as a trusted partner throughout the entire project lifecycle.
This role is on-site in either our Columbus, OH or Urbana, OH offices. Hybrid opportunities based on role requirements and team needs.
Key Responsibilities
Build Strong Client Relationships: Develop rapport quickly with clients, architects, and project stakeholders through consistent communication, responsiveness, and a high level of customer service throughout the project lifecycle.
Serve in a Highly Client-Facing Role: Maintain frequent interaction with clients and partners while acting as a trusted point of contact from initial pursuit through project completion.
Represent the Company at Industry Events: Attend key industry conferences, networking events, and trade shows up to once per quarter as directed by the Company.
Lead the Sales and Quoting Process: Interact directly with clients and Butler Manufacturing to gather project information, define scope requirements, and coordinate the information needed to develop accurate and competitive project quotes.
Support Proposal Development: Gather Butler pricing, coordinate estimating support, and work with the Preconstruction team to finalize proposal documents.
Manage Multiple Priorities and Execute Efficiently: Effectively balance multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholder requests by identifying the highest priorities and executing quickly to keep projects and deliverables moving forward.
Manage Preconstruction Coordination: Lead Butler-related project coordination throughout the preconstruction phase, which may span 3–6 months prior to project turnover to operations.
Keep Design Teams Aligned: Coordinate communication between clients, architects, internal teams, and Butler Manufacturing to ensure the Butler building design progresses in tandem with the architectural design process and that all stakeholders remain aligned throughout project development.
Participate in Design-Assist Services: Attend and contribute to weekly or more frequent design coordination meetings with clients, architects, and project stakeholders.
Guide Clients Through the Butler Design Process: Serve as a primary client resource by coordinating design inquiries, communicating updates, and facilitating responses from Butler Manufacturing.
Manage Project Documentation and Communication: Maintain organized project documentation including submittals, drawings, RFIs, product samples, standard details, meeting notes, and project correspondence to support effective communication across all stakeholders.
Serve as the Primary Butler Liaison: Act as the main point of contact between the Company’s operations team and Butler Manufacturing to ensure effective coordination during design, procurement, and construction.
Support Project Execution Through Full Lifecycle: Remain actively involved throughout the entire project lifecycle, supporting the transition from preconstruction through active construction and final project completion.
Coordinate Material Delivery and Inventory Support: Assist operations teams by coordinating product deliveries, tracking material needs, supporting inventory management, and addressing field-related material issues during construction.
Respond to RFIs and Technical Questions: Coordinate responses to RFIs and support communication between the client, operations team, architects, and Butler Manufacturing to resolve technical and project-related questions.
Manage Additional Parts Orders: Coordinate and process additional parts orders and related project support needs throughout construction.
Resolve Project Challenges: Assist with identifying and resolving project-related issues to maintain schedules, quality standards, and client expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
- 2-3+ years’ experience in pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), commercial construction, manufacturing, or related industry required.
- Experience working with Butler Manufacturing systems or PEMB projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction sales, estimating, preconstruction, and project coordination processes.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills with the ability to quickly establish rapport and maintain strong client relationships.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and execute quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and project timelines simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction/project management software.
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
- Ability to travel for client meetings, project coordination, and industry events as needed.
- Ability to understand and navigate Construction Drawings and construction specifications.
