Job Summary:
The Payroll Assistant will oversee and supervise the payroll functions of the organization, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.

Core Accountability:
The Payroll Assistant is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing by maintaining payroll systems, processing employee pay changes, resolving discrepancies, supporting audits, and ensuring adherence to all applicable payroll laws and regulations.
Specific Duties/Responsibilities:
• Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
• Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
• Resolves payroll-related issues and concerns in a timely and accurate manner.
• Ensures that tax tables and software programs are updated as needed.
• Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
• Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
• Identifies and recommends updates to payroll accounting software, systems, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Proficient with payroll software.

Ability to handle confidential information.
Education and Experience:
•
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
•
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field is preferred.
•
At least two to three years of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
•
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
•
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
