Field Support Leader – Southwest Region | Heavy Civil Construction

Position Summary

Gregory Construction is seeking an experienced Field Support Leader (FSL) to support our growing heavy civil construction operations throughout the Southwest Region, primarily across Texas and Louisiana.

This is a field-focused, travel-intensive position designed for a construction professional who understands how successful heavy civil projects operate in the field. The ideal candidate will be based in Texas and comfortable traveling regularly between active project sites throughout the Southwest based on operational needs.

The Field Support Leader works closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, and Operations Leadership to strengthen field execution, coordinate resources, solve operational challenges, and keep projects moving safely and efficiently.

This role serves as a trusted operational partner to our field teams, helping coordinate manpower, equipment, scheduling, production, and project resources while reinforcing Gregory Construction's commitment to Safety, Integrity, Communication, Excellence, and Determination.

What You'll Do

Field Operations Support

  • Partner directly with Superintendents and field leadership to support day-to-day execution across multiple heavy civil projects.
  • Regularly travel between active project sites throughout Texas, Louisiana, and the broader Southwest Region.
  • Assist with the coordination of manpower, equipment, subcontractors, materials, and other project resources.
  • Help identify and resolve field challenges that could impact production, schedule, safety, or overall project performance.
  • Serve as a liaison between field teams, Project Managers, and Operations Leadership.
  • Provide additional field leadership and operational support when projects require additional resources or attention.
  • Help ensure company expectations and operational standards remain consistent across projects.

Project Planning & Performance

  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of project schedules.
  • Monitor production rates, project progress, productivity goals, and overall field performance.
  • Work with project leadership to identify potential schedule delays, production issues, or operational risks.
  • Assist teams in developing recovery plans and solutions when projects encounter challenges.
  • Help maintain accurate project documentation, reports, schedules, and operational records.
  • Support project teams in keeping work aligned with schedule, budget, and production expectations.

Workforce & Resource Coordination

  • Assist with manpower planning and workforce allocation across Southwest projects.
  • Help coordinate equipment and resource needs between active job sites.
  • Work with field leadership to ensure crews have the tools, equipment, materials, and support needed to perform successfully.
  • Help identify upcoming staffing or equipment needs before they impact project execution.
  • Maintain communication between project teams regarding changing resource demands and priorities.

Safety & Quality

  • Promote and reinforce Gregory Construction's safety culture across every project.
  • Partner with field leadership and Safety teams to support safe work practices and accountability.
  • Support project teams in maintaining Gregory Construction's quality and operational standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve field processes, productivity, communication, and project execution.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across the Southwest Region.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous heavy civil construction experience.
  • Strong understanding of field operations and construction project execution.
  • Experience working directly with Superintendents, field crews, Project Managers, or construction operations teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout Texas, Louisiana, and other Southwest project locations.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and support multiple active projects.
  • Comfortable working primarily in active construction environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Texas-based candidate strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Field Operations Leader, Project Manager, or similar heavy civil construction leadership role.
  • Experience with self-perform heavy civil scopes including earthwork, grading, underground utilities, site development, concrete, or related infrastructure work.
  • Experience supporting large-scale industrial, mission-critical, or data center construction projects is a plus.
  • Experience coordinating manpower and heavy equipment across multiple projects.
  • Proficiency with construction and scheduling software, including:
    • Primavera P6
    • Procore
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft Outlook
