Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safe Transportation: Operate a liquid asphalt tanker truck in a safe and efficient manner, following all traffic laws, company policies, and industry regulations.
Loading and Unloading: Safely load liquid asphalt into the tanker at asphalt plants or other designated loading points. Ensure proper procedures are followed during loading and unloading processes, including securing the tanker and connecting hoses.
Inspection and Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tanker and related equipment to ensure they are in good working condition. Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including mileage, hours of service, fuel purchases, and delivery details. Complete all necessary paperwork and logbooks promptly and accurately.
Delivery and Route Planning: Follow assigned delivery schedules and routes to transport liquid asphalt to various construction sites or customer locations. Efficiently plan routes, considering factors like traffic conditions, road restrictions, and customer requirements.
Safety and Environmental Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents, spills, or environmental damage. Ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow guidelines for handling hazardous materials.
Communication: Maintain effective communication with dispatchers, customers, and team members to provide updates on delivery status, delays, or other relevant information. Resolve any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies or accidents by following established procedures, contacting appropriate authorities, and providing assistance as necessary.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks on the tanker and related equipment, such as checking tire pressure, fluid levels, and cleaning the tanker to prevent contamination.
Professionalism and Customer Service: Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner when interacting with customers, contractors, or the public. Provide excellent customer service and address any inquiries or concerns promptly.

Required Skills, Education, and Experience
Class A CDL
Hazmat and Tanker Endorsement for liquid asphalt
One year of commercial driving experience
Verbal and written communication skills
Able and willing to work a 2nd shift schedule
Problem solving
Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution
3+ years of commercial driving experience
TWIC card
Experience working in a quarry, heavy civil construction, or other outdoor industrial setting
Strong preference for asphalt plant and/or heavy road construction experience
OSHA or other relevant safety certification
