Tessiers Mechanical Contractors, the Midwest’s premier mechanical contractor, is seeking a Sales Manager - Residential and Light Commercial HVAC to support residential and light commercial HVAC sales and installation projects based out of our Rapid City, South Dakota office. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships, managing project opportunities from initial contact through completion, and serving as a key point of coordination between customers, project teams, field crews, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

In addition to account management responsibilities, this position will support project management functions including estimating, labor forecasting, budgeting, scheduling coordination, and overall project oversight. The ideal candidate will have experience in HVAC, mechanical construction, or a related industry and possess strong communication, organizational, customer service, and project coordination skills.

 

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and grow customer relationships within residential and light industrial HVAC construction and installation markets.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, builders, general contractors, developers, property owners, and other project stakeholders.

- Identify new business opportunities and support continued growth within the Rapid City and surrounding markets.

- Review customer needs, project scopes, drawings, specifications, and schedules to develop practical HVAC solutions and project plans.

- Prepare project estimates, proposals, budgets, and pricing for HVAC construction and installation work.

- Estimate labor hours, manpower requirements, and material needs associated with assigned projects.

- Monitor labor utilization, project costs, production progress, and profitability throughout the project lifecycle.

- Coordinate with project management, field operations, purchasing, and estimating teams to support efficient project execution.

- Assist with project scheduling, manpower planning, subcontractor coordination, and resource allocation.

- Prepare and manage change orders, scope revisions, and project-related documentation.

- Maintain regular communication with customers throughout the project lifecycle to ensure expectations, schedules, and deliverables are aligned.

- Support project kickoff meetings, progress updates, and project closeout activities.

- Help resolve customer concerns, field issues, scheduling conflicts, and cost impacts in a timely and professional manner.

- Track and maintain accurate records related to estimates, labor projections, project status, customer interactions, and financial performance.

- Stay informed on HVAC systems, construction methods, market conditions, and industry trends.

- Promote and support company safety standards and compliance expectations.

 

Qualifications

- Previous experience in account management, project management, estimating, or operations within HVAC, mechanical contracting, construction, or a related industry preferred.

- Knowledge of residential and/or light industrial HVAC systems, construction processes, estimating practices, and installation methods strongly preferred.

- Experience estimating labor, materials, and project costs for construction or mechanical projects preferred.

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.

- Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage budgets and labor projections.

- Strong relationship-building, communication, and customer service skills.

- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, and customer needs in a fast-paced environment.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with estimating software, ERP systems, CRM platforms, or project management software is a plus.

- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to jobsites and customer locations as needed.
