 Position

Electrician (Non-exempt)

Primary Purpose

Plan layout of new or modified installations consistent with specifications, plan drawings, diagrams, and local electrical codes. Work will include repair & troubleshooting to wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment for commercial and industrial settings.

 Essential Functions

  • Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems
  • Install electrical equipment, outlet boxes, wiring devices, lighting fixtures
  • Terminate motorized equipment
  • Use a variety of testing devices to inspect and identify electrical problems & components, such as transformers and circuit breakers
  • Measure, cut, bend and install various types of raceway systems; pull, test and terminate wire and cable
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Perform basic trouble shooting, testing and repair of electrical equipment, devices and lighting fixtures
  • Operate excavation equipment (ie…trencher, mini-excavator, backhoe, etc.); operate a bucket truck
  • Use hand & power tools to repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures
  • Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment
  • Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electrical Code
  • Other duties as assigned. Requirements

This position is classified Full-Time(non-exempt) with some overtime expected.  Basic qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; at least 18 years of age
  • Minimum 2 years electrical work experience,
  • Current valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
  • Perform basic mathematical operations rapidly and quickly
  • Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
  • Basic knowledge of the National Electrical Code and performing electrical installations/repairs
  • Provide and properly use basic hand tools as required for tasks

  • Pay high attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality workmanship
  • Be flexible, some long days or night shift work may be required

Preferred Candidates will:

  • Have certification in electrical field
  • Experience in electrical construction or industrial role

The compensation range provided is a general guideline.  Varney considers factors such (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. 

Physical Demands Classification

Medium – Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects; Lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds; Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for long periods of time; Visually see (naturally or with correction); Work at heights climbing and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds and manlifts.
